Salutations and thanks for checking in!

I'm Mrs. Yee, the 6th/7th grade English & History Teacher.  My goals for this year are to prepare those that enter my class to do their best writing and thinking using the two subjects, English and History.  Students and parents must realize that students cannot simply learn facts. This world requires us to think on extravagant levels due to the fast pace of technology, world issues, and globalization.  It is my hope to open the eyes of students to show and teach thinking that will prepare them to face future success in managing these major issues.
I received my bachelor's degree at the University of California, San Diego (2000), my teaching credential from Los Angeles Unified School District (2006), and my Master's Degree at the University of Southern California (2008).
6th and 7th grade can be a difficult and confusing time in children's lives as things are quickly changing and more responsibilities are falling onto their shoulders.  I look forward to working together with parents and students to make this as successful a year as possible!

Please feel free to use this website to get to know a little more about me, what's going on in the classroom, or to drop me an email! =)

Maternity Leave

Dear Parents & Guardians,
The year is almost over with a little over 8 weeks to go after Spring Break! How times flies when there's so much to do!
For those that do not know, my family and I are expecting to welcome a sweet baby boy into our family at mid-April.  I'm am currently 36 weeks pregnant and will be on my maternity leave as of March 29th.  In my place will be a long term substitute named Ms. Montejano.  She's a highly qualified substitute that has worked with 6th & 7th graders here at El Sereno before.  I know that she'll do a great job in closing the year.

Depending on my recovery, I'm hoping to be back the last week of the academic year to ensure that everything is in order.  However, I will be here for parent conference on March 31st for those that would like to discuss your child's progress thus far.

Thanks for all your cooperation and assistance with your child’s development during their 6th grade year!

Mrs. Yee
