Friday Morning Announcements
October 18, 2019
Good morning IB college-bound scholars! This is Natalia Rodriguez, your ASB President, and special guest Communicators with your Friday Morning Announcements:
For the month of October, our IB Learner Profile Attribute is Thinker: Thinkers exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems, and make reasoned, ethical decisions. Are you a Thinker? Be a Thinker today and every day, and you, your class, your, school, your family, your friends, your community, your nation and your world will be better off and more peaceful because of it.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Did you know that more than 2.8 million breast cancer survivors live in the U.S.? They are survivors of the second most-common cancer in women, and survival rates continue to improve because of better treatments and increased screenings. Continue to wear your pink ribbons this month to remind us all of those who are struggling with breast cancer, those in remission, those lost to breast cancer, and to remind our healthy loved ones about early testing and examination options to keep them safe from this devastating disease.
Candygrams are now on sale for only $1! Send your friends a sweet hello with a Halloween Candygram. Send them a note with a candy for only $1. Purchase yours from the Leadership table in the purple commons, from B-49, or from any Leadership student.
Halloween is coming fast! Come dressed up and compete at our lunchtime competitions for the funniest, the scariest and the most elaborate costume. Remember: your costume must be appropriate for school: no weapons, masks, painted faces, or revealing costumes will be permitted. Get your trick-or-treat on early by coming dressed in your favorite Halloween costume!
Our first dance of the year is in two weeks! Come dance and play games at the Skull-o-Ween Dance on Friday, November 1st from 3:30pm – 5pm in the small gym. Tickets go on sale starting Monday for $1 at the Student Store, from room B49, or at the Leadership table in the Purple Commons.
Thank you to all who participated in our first Kindness Matters Month activity! Next week we will continue our activities with a Pledge to always be kind and Caring and to never be a Bully by putting our handprints on posters with paint. These posters will be laminated and put up all over the school. Join us to make your mark. We will also build a Kindness Chain, so come out and share a kind thought, then help us build kindness one link at a time. Remember that we all need to stand up to make our school community a better place – share kindness and be a #Caring Jaguar.
All Students Eat for Free: All a student needs is a PIN NUMBER to receive a free and nutritious lunch from our cafeteria. If you don't have a PIN NUMBER or you forgot your PIN NUMBER, one of the cafeteria staff members will help you when you pick up your lunch.
