Welcome to El Sereno Middle School! I hope to make this a successful year for your son/dauhgter. Your child will be required to do a lot of reading and writing this year in history, language arts and science class so I need the assistance of you to limit the amount of time spent watching television and to set up a quiet place for your child to read and write and home.

 

This year in Social Studies, be ready to expect cultures from the past come alive!  We will study modern cultures across the world, as well as ancient cultures that once ruled the world: Mesopotamia, Egypt, Chine, India, Greece and Rome.  These civilizations will come alive throuhg art, research, and technology projects.

 

In your Language Arts class, we will journey into the lives of some funny, wild, scary and adventurous characters in short stories, books, and poems. We will focus on different types of wrintngs such as Narrative, Expositiory, I will also intertgrate note taking skills through the AVID program
