Hey, I'm Mr. Anderson. I teach sixth grade math and science in the Environmental Science Academy. So far as I've heard, El Sereno is the only middle school with an academy of this kind. Normally, we only see this type of academy at the high school level. Our academy is now in its seventh year of existence and getting stronger every year. We now have over 180 students in three grade levels enrolled in our academy. Some of our students get the opportunity to spend three days camping, snorkeling and kayaking on Catalina Island! (see the files below). Our students do a lot of work outside in the garden and outdoor classroom. We take day trips to Cabrillo Beach, Monrovia Canyon, Arroyo Seco, Eaton Canyon, and Mount Baldy. This year we'll also be camping at the Temescal Canyon Outdoor Science Facility from January 26-28, 2010. Parents that want their 5th grade child enrolled in this rich program, need to fill out an application available at El Sereno Middle School.
